About Colette

Colette Griffin is Curator at Mansions of the Future. In her role Colette shapes and delivers a transformative programme of commissions, exhibitions, talks, workshops, screenings, experiences and debates. She is responsible for engaging the people of Lincoln and beyond with artists and thinkers of international stature, investigating culture, power and democracy.

Colette’s interests centre on commissioning and programming that explores the architecture of our lives, the institutions and expectations that continue to shape everyday experiences.

An artist in her own right, as well as a curator, Colette is a studio holder at Backlit, Nottingham. Her practice is the consequence of the crossover between studio based working, and domestic, often performative ritual, forming a merging of traditional sculptural language and shapes found within the artists daily routine.

She has exhibited nationally and internationally at galleries and institutions including The Collection, Lincoln; Attenborough Arts Centre, Leicester; Modern Painters, New Decorators, Loughborough (solo); One Thoresby Street, Nottingham (solo); Sungshin Women’s University, Seoul and Jinji Lake Art Museum, Suzhou.

She has also worked with organisations including Nottingham City Museums and Galleries and Ikon Gallery, Birmingham.

About Mansions of the Future

Mansions of the Future is a dynamic project which C4CC is proud to be a partner in, bringing together artists and communities to share culture in and of Lincoln.

With a design led, multifunctional public space developed by inaugural artist Kathin Böhm at its nerve centre, the three-year programme delivers a series of ambitious, interdisciplinary artistic commissions by renowned national and international artists.

Working with the citizens of Lincoln, the three-year project explores themes of power and democracy – adopting a radical approach which privileges inherently social, site-specific, and collaborative ways of working.

In collaboration with the Lincoln Cultural and Arts Partnership, Mansions of the Future is supported by Arts Council England’s Ambition for Excellence fund and other partners across the region.
