Lauren’s role
As Aerial Lead for Transported, everything in Lauren’s job revolves around safety; people, equipment and locations are her priorities. She is responsible for, not only day-to-day bookings of both people and sites, but also making sure all equipment is at the correct safe standard to be used.
She programmes external events such as workshops with touring artists and companies, as well as on- off in-house workshops and competition sessions. Lauren’s favourite element of her role is teaching and she is lucky enough to get to teach students in both aerial hoop and silks. In order to be able to do this, it is also important that she maintains a high level of skill and trains regularly, so you can often find her up in the air!
A bit of background
Lauren trained in community theatre at Bishop Grosseteste University College, graduating in 2013. Within months she had her first graduate job with Transported as an Arts Engagement Worker, focusing on bringing new and unusual arts experiences to local communities in the Boston and South Holland districts of Lincolnshire.
From there, Lauren went on to work with the artsNK dance team for a while as a community dance artist. It was there that she began her aerial journey, before returning to Transported as a Community Project Coordinator and developing her role with aerial.
She began as a trainee teacher and worked her way up to her current role leading the programme. Throughout this time she has also brought her aerial performance to venues around the county. Lauren has trained with many great aerialists, learning from some of the best in the country. She also has qualifications in both aerial hoop and silks through Spin City and Xpert Pole & Aerial Fitness.
Lauren added “As a young artist I am just at the beginning of my career and I hope to be able to continue learning and developing for many years to come.”
And finally…
Lauren was lucky enough to get to spend a week in the south of France training with composer Howard Goodall and his family and has performed in many concerts and musicals… both on and off the ground!
